Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has come under attack for justifying Nigeria’s incessant schoolchildren kidnapping by arguing that even in the developed countries, school children are being abducted.
.Lai Mohammed made the claim in a Channels Television interview.
He said: “Even in the most developed countries in the world, school kidnappings take place,”
For many Nigerians who commented on the social media, Lai Mohammed cannot be taken seriously.
@Deolfc said: “Imagine having Lai Mohammed as your president, I know the thought is traumatizing but just imagine and then Thank God for life.”
@novieverrst said: “Lai Mohammed never disappoints. Man is consistent as ever.
I just remembered 2014, just before the 2015 elections. The level of lies that man dropped daily, that was the moment I knew APC had nothing to offer but propaganda.”
@FestusGreen tweeted: “Lai Mohammed is probably mistaken Niger, Borno, Zamfara, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe and Yobe States are independent & developed countries. Else, I dare him to mention any country, developed or undeveloped, in which school kids are kidnapped for sports.-.
@OmolrOlugbenga also said: “I find the statement credited to Alhaji Lai Mohammed most unfortunate, unreasonable and nauseating. Since according to him kidnapping students is globally fashionable, I wish he should desire one of his loved one to be kidnapped.”
