-

Christmas Day, which is on the 25th of December, has been officially declared public holiday by the federal government. Also, Monday, December 28 will be a work-free-day, just as January 1, 2021 which is New Year.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, announced the holidays through a statement signed by permanent secretary, Ministry of Interior, Shuaib Belgore.

The statement enjoined Christians to emulate the life of Jesus Christ, which the celebration signifies.

“We must emulate the life of humility, service, compassion, patience, peace and righteousness that the birth and ministry of Jesus Christ signified, that will be the best way to know Christ and celebrate his birth,” the statement said.
