Unity is a great catalyst for nation-building – Sen. Stella Oduah

-

Fluctuations of our Nigerian democracy alternating with dictatorships under military rule over the past five decades have left the unedifying conclusion that the nation is inexorably sliding towards chaos in fulfillment of the “prophecy” of the multi-award-winning book, “Things Fall Apart,” written by the globally famous writer, the late Professor Chinua Achebe.

Fifty years down the line, our dear country, the beloved ‘Giant of Africa’ is still staggering on wobbly legs that have been partly-crippled by corruption, nepotism and ethnic bigotry with a huge 170 million population engulfed with greed, individualism, religious intolerance plus “heads about to be severed by senseless violence.”

For Nigeria to live up to her intercontinental pride and stamp her feet as the true Giant Of Africa, the patriotic Senator of Anambra North Constituency, Princess Stella Oduah has called for all hands to be on deck in making Nigeria a home that we all desire.

Senator Stella Oduah, in her stylish nationalistic manner, urged that all politicians, traditional rulers, religious leaders, academi heads, and all other leaders of thought, as a matter of responsibility, have a unique role to play in building a Nigeria embellished with global taste.

She stressed on her Facebook Wall that for Nigeria to attain greatness as a country, the leaders and the led alike must jettison tribalism, favouritism, undue political manoeuvering and uphold the true tenets of democracy while embracing transparency, equity and fairness in their various public offices.

Senator Stella Oduah who believes in the unity of Nigeria as one people and one nation, advised that we should take advantage of our number as one of the most populous countries in the world and the largest in Africa and take a giant leap in harnessing its abundant human and natural resources.

Condemning the unceasing violence as evil against God and humanity, the Anambra North legislator urged those perpetrating terror attacks to sheathe their swords and embrace peace in the true spirit of brotherhood, emphatic that violence or war has never paid and would not pay off for good in any nation.
