Olisa Metuh, PDP spokesman granted N400m bail

-

Chief Olisa Metuh, National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was on Tuesday brought to a Federal High Court in Abuja in handcuffs where he was granted bail.

Metuh appeared before Justice Okon Abang to face a seven-count criminal charge of money laundering, breach of trust and criminal diversion of public funds preferred against him by the ‎Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)‎.

He was alleged to have collected N400 million out of the $2.1bn meant to buy arms to fight the Boko Haram insurgency, withdrew it from Office of NSA’s account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and paid it into account no. 0040437573, which his company Destra Investments Ltd operates with Diamond Bank Plc.

Metuh collected the N400m from the erstwhile National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) in November, 2014 and transferred N21.7m to another chieftain of PDP, Chief Tony Anenih.

He is also required to produce two sureties, who must not only be residents of Abuja, but also owners of landed ‎properties in the Maitama district of the FCT, in the sum of N200 million each.

The judge ‎fixed January 25 to commence full hearing in the case.‎
