The Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr. Sunday Dare, has said that his ministry has the powers to reposition the different sports for best results including, Nigeria’s team, Super Eagles, for optimal performance.
The minister made the declaration during a visit to Minna, Niger State.
He said, “As a Minister of Youth and Sports it is part of my responsibility to make sure that our entire sports sector is growing.
“We expect good results from the Nigerian Football Technical crew. We will continue to review everything about the Super Eagles to enable the National football team progress to give us good results”.
Dare explained that Nigerians were not happy with the goalless draw result of the recent return match between the Super Eagles and the Leone Stars of Sierra-Leon in the qualifying series of the African Cup of Nations which took place in Sierra Leone.
Recalling that the Super Eagles top the Group L with eight points, the minister said, “We are not happy with what happened in Sierra Leone recently, therefore we have to do something to make the Super Eagles give us good results”.
The minister however assured that President Muhammadu Buhari would continue to engage law-abiding Nigerians youths meaningfully with various empowerment programmes.
