Imo lawmaker returns to PDP, after nine months in APC

-

After a nine months spell in the All Progressives Congress (APC), the lawmaker representing Orlu state constituency at the Imo state House of Assembly, Paschal Okolie, has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Imo state House of Assembly Speaker, Chiji Collins, read Paschal Okolie’s letter announcing his return to the PDP, a party he had dumped when the Supreme Court announced Hope Uzodinma as the Imo State Governor.

According a report in the Vanguard, the reason Okolie, abandoned APC for PDP was not stated in the letter, but that the move may not be unconnected with his 2023 political ambition of negotiating for a second term.

The report said some of Okolie’s loyalists think that his chances of clinching the ticket of APC for House of Assembly would be doomed should he continued to remain in the party, APC.

“We can’t understand what is happening in APC, that is why we encouraged him to leave and join back the PDP, not only the second term ticket is the problem, there are other issues we can’t tell you now,” the newspaper quoted one of the loyalists.
