A House of Representative member, Victor Mela, representing the Balanga-Billiri Federal constituency of Gombe State who is also the Vice Chairman of Solid Minerals Committee, has been convicted of lying under oath.
A Magistrate Court in Wuse, Zone 6, Abuja found the member of the House of Representatives, guilty of the crime which he committed when filing the CD001 INEC form prior to the 2019 elections.
The FCT Police convicted the lawmaker but deferred sentencing to another date.
The lawmaker has through his lawyer pleaded for leniency.
