Bayelsa supplementary: Dickson plots to destabilise PDP in secret visit to Aso Rock -APC

-

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State on Friday poured more accusations into the secret deal allegedly entered into by the State Governor Seriake Dickson and some officials at the Presidency to enable him to secure his second term tenure after the January 9 supplementary election.

But the Dickson campaign kept studiously silent over the damning accusations of betrayal of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

APC, through the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation, insisted that there really was an illicit deal between Dickson and some unidentified officials of the Presidency during his last Tuesday’s controversial visit to Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

APC in the statement by Chief Nathan Egba, alleged that Governor Dickson had offered to invest in the destabilisation of PDP at the national level and defect to the APC if allowed to win the January 9 election and secure his second term in office.

Chief Egba alleged that “APC can now officially confirm to Bayelsans that Governor Seriake Dickson has all this while, been deceiving and hoodwinking the people about the things he has been doing in his desperation to remain in office beyond February 14, 2016.

“When it was widely reported by virtually every news organisation in the country that Gov. Dickson visited the Presidential Villa last Tuesday, without invitation to beg President Buhari to be allowed to go for a 2nd tenure, PDP and the state government denied the story strenuously.

“Even at the Chief of Staff to Mr. President’s office, Gov. Dickson was not granted audience but made to meet with some aides instead. Our sources confirmed to us, that Gov. Dickson went to beg the Presidency to forgive him over his derogatory and inflammatory statements during the election and to prevail on the APC Candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva to soft-pedal in Southern Ijaw LGA to enable him win the forthcoming rerun election in the area.

“In return for that favour, Gov. Dickson proposed to foment an artificial crisis in the PDP at the national level and use that as a basis to decamp from his party to the ruling APC. His argument was that he recognised the fact that Bayelsa State cannot afford to remain in opposition to the ruling party.”
