Anambra State government has received a Special Military Squad deployed to state by the Nigerian government to ensure total return of peace and normalcy in the state.

The state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, disclosed this in his twitter handle, @WillieMObiano, on Friday.

The deployment of the soldiers was coming on the heels of the nationwide destruction of properties and loss of lives, which followed the massacre of #EndSARS protesters by the Nigerian Army at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos, recently.

But the governor explained that the soldiers were to complement the efforts of other security agencies in maintaining peace in the state.

Obiano stated: “Earlier today, I received a Special Military Squad deployed to our dear state to aid in ensuring total return of peace and normalcy in Anambra.

“We have always prioritized the security of lives and properties of ndi Anambra [Anambra people] and we are determined to take all necessary steps to make sure that every Onye Anambra [Anambra indigene] enjoys peace. Live and work without any form of fear.

“This special squad will complement the efforts of the gallant officers of other security agencies in Anambra whose hard work has kept us as the safest state in Nigeria. Enough is Enough!”

Obiano also appealed to Anambra youths to defend the state from hooligans from other states.

“Ndi Anambra [Anambra people], our story is different. So, we must act with a sense of history in moments like this.

“We must not give in to regrettable anger and throw everything away. God bless Anambra State,

God bless Nigeria,” he said.

The governor also disclosed that their ancestors practiced pragmatic democracy before the Greeks stumbled upon its fine theories, stressing that Ndigbo rose from the ashes of a brutal Civil War to rebuild their lives with relative ease.

“Ndi Anambra, our story is different. So, we must act with a sense of history in moments like this.

“We must not give in to regrettable anger and throw everything away. God bless Anambra State God bless Nigeria,” the governor said.
