The results of the gubernatorial election in Ondo State have started coming in.
As at the last count, INEC has announced results from 12 local governments out of the 18.
Results so far announced showed that the incumbent, Gov Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won 9 local governments namely – Owo, Ondo East, Akoko South West, Akoko North West, Akoko South East, Akoko North East , Ile Oluji/Oke-Igbo, Irele and Idanre Local governments while his nearest challenger, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in Akure South, Akure North and Ifedore local governments, while Mr. Agboola Ajayi of Zenith Labour Party (ZPL) is coming a distant third.
Results from Ondo West, Okitipupa, Ese-Odo, Ilaje, Odigbo and Ose local governments are yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, the INEC officials have gone on a short break.
Collation of results is expected to resume at 9 am.
