At least eight contestants have indicated interest to sit to the stool of the late Emir of Zazzau, Dr Shehu Idris.
The Daily Trust in a report, said the the candidates were drawn from three ruling houses that make up the Zazzau emirate.
In the report, the Daily Trust said the princes from the three dynasties, out of the four, have applied stating their desire to become the 19th Emir of Zazzau.

The report explained that among the dynasty that have fielded candidates include; Katsinawa dynasty, where the late emir hailed from. The dynasty, according to the report, has four applicants. They include; Wamban Zazzau, Alhaji Abdulkareem Aminu, Iyan Zazzau, Alhaji Bashar Aminu; Dangaladiman Zazzau, Alhaji Aminu Idris and Turakin Zazzau, Alhaji Aminu Shehu Idris.
Another dynasty, the Mallawa dynasty, according to the Daily Trust, has three candidates among whom are; Ciroman Zazzau, Alhaji Sa’idu Mailafiya; Barden Kudun Zazzau, Alhaji Hassan Tijjani, and Magajin Garin Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli.
The third dynasty, the Bare-bari dynasty has the Yariman Zazzau, Alhaji Munir Jafaru as its sole applicant.
The report also said the Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-rufai has been official informed on Wednesday, September 23, about the passing of the Emir, setting the tone for the replacement of the Emir.
The Governor’s wife, Hajia Hadiza El-rufai, has teased her husband about the possibility of having a woman to succeed the Zazzau throne in the mould of the Queen Amina of Zazzau, the 16th century Queen that ruled the territory.
