Messi changes life of blind Arsenal fan with pair of glasses

-

FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has extended a gesture of goodwill to a blind Arsenal fan.

According to Spanish publication, Tribuna, it was part of the Argentine’s way of making lives of children more colourful.

The latest beneficiary of a life-changing pair of glasses  is a 10-year old boy called Mikey. He is a blind Arsenal fan from London.

The Barcelona icon has linked up with Israel-based company OrCam Technologies to launch a partnership, which aims to help the blind and the visually impaired around the globe.

Along with instant face recognition and identification of consumer products, colours and money notes, the wearable device can read printed and digital text from any surface, converting it to audio feedback to its user.

Messi will give the OrCam MyEye device to blind and visually impaired people with inspiring stories every year as a part of the partnership.

Already 12 visually-impaired individuals have joined the so-called ‘OrCam Dream Team’ after meeting Messi in Barcelona before the COVID-19 outbreak.

Now, Mikey has received his gift from the Argentine to get “this whole new lease of independence”, according to his parents
