The Arewa community in Edo State has assured the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate in the state’s September 19 governorship election of their complete vote.

Obaseki would square against his serial rival, Osagei Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the poll in nine days time.

At a rally held on September 10, the vice chairman of Aduwawa livestock market in the state, Shittu Usman, who also doubles as the Arewa Community leader in the ward 4 area of the state said their votes is in intact for the PDP’s governorship candidate, Obaseki.

“We are here to support our Governor Obaseki. He is the Wait and See governor. We are giving him our complete support because he ensured that we are conducting our businesses in a peacefully environment,” he said.

The community leader added that Obaseki has impacted their lives so much that no true northerner would vote against him.

“Any Arewa man who does not support Godwin Obaseki is not a complete Hausa man. He is not an Arewa man. We are here with our Umbrella, together with our leader, Alhaji Sabiu Umar, SSA to the governor on Arewa community,” he said.

Earlier, a former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, was at the state where he held in a meeting with the deputy governorship candidate of the PDP, Philip Shaibu.

It is not clear if Kwankwaso, who holds a large northern following, has anything to do with the endorsement of Obaseki by the Arewa Community.
