Nigerians abroad commend prompt issuance of passport

-

Some Nigerians living abroad have applauded the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for prompt issuance of passport at the Nigerian embassy in Stockholm, Sweden.

Those who went to the embassy to renew their passports said they were surprised that they were issued in less than five hours.

They commended the Immigration unit in the embassy, headed by Austin Agbakwuru, and prayed that the efficiency would continue so as to lessen the suffering of Nigerians coming from different Nordic countries serviced by the embassy in Stockholm.

Agbakwuru told TheNiche that the NIS provided the structure to deliver the service, and “we are only doing our job, what we are supposed to do.”

He said the commendation should go to the federal government and the NIS “for the opportunity to operate efficiently and effectively. We are here to serve our Nigerian citizens living abroad to the best of our abilities.”

He advised diaspora Nigerians to be good ambassadors and stay out of anything that will soil the reputation of Nigeria and Nigerians.

“Nigeria is evidently one of the most important countries in the world to reckon with, a country that cannot be ignored.

“It is one of the most important countries in the African region and very strategic to the European Union, so we must protect its reputation and integrity in whatever we are doing here in Europe and beyond, with the mindset that one cannot run away from his or her shadow.”

The Nigerian embassy in Sweden oversees immigration and consular matters for both Nigerians and other nationals in the Nordic counties of Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Estonia.
