So much about the rumoured ‘death’ of Skiibii

Watching and listening to Five Star Music boss, Kcee, and his artistes, Harrysong and Skiibii, on a late night show on Wednesday, followers of the recent stir caused by the rumoured death of Skiibii are likely to be at a crossroads.

The social media was awash with the ‘death’ of Skiibii, a new signing at Five Star Music. The leading blogger of the story actually confirmed the story from Soso Sobrekan, longtime manager and friend of Kcee.

He even posted pictures of ‘hospitalised’ Skiibii on his Instagram page. The story elicited sympathetic messages from his fans, while some people cared less as they said it was a ‘publicity stunt’.

In a twist of events, however, the music company came out to refute the story by sending out a press release on the issue that also exonerated the bloggers that they did their job of confirming the story first.

But Sobrekan did not get away with the false alarm. He has been fired.

Speaking at the television show, Skiibii explained that he usually had blackout due to either excitement or anxiety, which was what happened to him on the fateful day.

“The irony of it is that I was on European tour with Sobrekon. I can’t be pulling stunt with death,” he said emotionally.

Trying to clarify what actually happened, his brother said: “He had a minor health issue; he passed out for about two hours which made some people think he was probably dead.”

Despite this explanation, some social media commentators would not let the music company be, as some people feel it was a PR stunt gone bad.

Whatever it might be, Five Star and Skiibii should find a lasting solution to the ‘blackout’ syndrome, so that it does not happen again when he gets to perform on stage with a superstar.
