Prof. Chikelue Ofuebe of University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has urged planning officers and statisticians to generate reliable data for national development.
Ofuebe gave the advice at the beginning of a two-day workshop on project formulation, feasibility studies and appraisal for newly employed planning officers and statisticians in Awka on Thursday.
He enumerated some key guidelines for team behaviour to include keeping one’s emotions under control, being helpful and supportive to others and showing interest in other people, their work and ideas.
According to him, building and developing a team, encouraging and supporting the individuals that make up the team, were some of the qualities of a good leader.
Mr Boniface Azi, Director, Partnership Coordination, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, said that one of the objectives of the workshop was to put in place a new generation of capable, effective and efficient planning officers and statisticians.
He said that they would also help to close the gap to be created with the exit of the old generation of officers.
Mr Uchenna Ibegbu, one of the participants, described the workshop as timely. (NAN)
