Joy Osusu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Links & Glitz World, which also organises the Most Elegant Girl in Nigeria and other fashion diaries, said the journey started “a few months ago”, after the “successful hosting” of the first ever Miss Tourism Delta in December 2014.

“We wanted to empower more young ladies to become positive influences to their immediate environments.

“Thus making them socially responsible through creating another platform for expression and contribution to society, and for them to become role models.

“A platform to celebrate our dynamic and rich cultural heritage, of which fashion is part; thereby adding their quota to the development of our state and country,” Osusu explained.

Upcoming musical acts – among them Shuun bebe, Vera da Queen, Lord Rapz, and John Networq – showcased their talents to the admiration of the audience.

Personalities from government, fashion, entertainment, and industry present included Patrick Chukwudi, Director of Patchuks Global Resources; and Happy Mene, Warri Zonal Assistant Secretary, Optima Unit and Chairman of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers Union (NUPENG).

They also included Joy Ekpoke, 2014 Miss Tourism Nigeria Universe, now CEO of Beauline Designs; Olasubulumi Anthony; and Tony Aniretan, Face of Pwitty Model, Queen of Niger Delta.

Links & Glitz World, a subsidiary of Glo-May Specialities, was established in 2010.

It is a group event manager, creative director, marketer, television host; and also offers integrated public relations, marketing, consultancy, media, events and communication solutions.

Like Monye, the other winners will also represent Delta in national competitions and get signed up by Talkative Agency for brand endorsement deals and television commercials.

First runner up, Sonia Okievor, received the MBFD Tourism Award. Second runner up, Okeke Alfreda, is MBFD Peace Ambassador.

Blessing Anderson became MBFD Culture; Joy Eboigbe grabbed MBFD Top Model; and Blessing Ebbah received MBFD Miss Photogenic.

“We are taking it forward this year in encouraging and grooming more youths across the nation, and we are introducing another platform called “Most Elegant Girl in Nigeria (MEGN),” Osusu disclosed.

She said MEGN would be an annual event that prepares young ladies to take on the world as women who are aware of the power they derive from fulfilling their purpose, and who use that power to impact the welfare of humanity.

Other brands that partnered in this year’s event included Yibrem Global Resources, Moxie Entertainment, Talkative Africa Agency, Wale Decorations, Pwitty Model Agency, Westhill Agency, Flawless Face By Lydia, and Chis Fashion & Design,
