Oreweme advocates for early childhood engagement in sports

The Lagos Liaison officer of National Sports Commission (NSC), Pastor Mrs. Tayo Oreweme has urged parents across the nation to engage their children in sports right from early stage so that by the time they’re sixteen years of age, they are already champions in their sporting field.

 

 

Briefing the newsmen at the national stadium, Surulere recently, Oreweme said most children nowadays are more engrossed in internet stuff popularly called ‘yahoo’ and yet, they use it in negative way which is now having adverse effects on our society.

“Many of them don’t have something sensible to do with their lives rather than engaging in anti-social activities that rid the society of valuable goods. They result to using gun to oppressed the armless individuals who are looking for daily bread, it’s quite unfortunate and unacceptable in our society”.

 

 

She added “imagine a four years old boy winning a swimming competition in France. This is what I witnessed during one of my courses in sports abroad”. It was so exciting and overwhelming. We can as well do that here in Nigeria if we really want to, we have the capacity to do that.” she noted

However, she enjoined the youths who engage in using weapons to drop guns and embrace sports through which they will live a meaningful life which no doubt have positive impact on the society as a whole.
