Nigeria unveils 2015 Afrobasket coach

As the anxiety of the approaching Afrobasket Men finals in Tunisia continues to build, Nigeria is set to unveil the coach to head its team to Tunis.

 

Since receiving over 20 applications for the job, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has been engrossed with the necessary due diligence process to arrive at a rewarding decision. Among the applicants are 2012 Olympic team assistant coaches, Sani Ahmed and Timothy Shea, who made the list of ‘possibles’ which include Josep Maria Berrocal Riera (Spain), Ricardo Daniel Maffei (Argentina), Guy Arnaud (France), William B. Voigt (U.S.A.), Sodini Marco (Italy), Dennis Felton (U.S.A.) and Aramis Naglic (Croatia).

The coaches are being assessed against a 10-point criteria drawn up by the NBBF, and a decision on the position has been delayed to come close to opening of training camp in Abuja.

 

The NBBF had agreed with players who committed for 2015 Afrobasket to rest and recover from their gruelling seasons before reporting to camp.
