Security: How SARS is making Ikorodu uncomfortable for criminals

The Police Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) has been bursting high profile crimes especially in Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

The SARS, which has its operational base in Ikorodu, had continued to encounter  criminals with several arrests of criminals terrorising the area.

The latest was the arrest of the leader of one of the criminal gangs popularly called ‘Empire’ who so far had killed 15 people.

CSP Kehinde Johnson, who has been nicknamed, ‘Crime buster’, with his team, had made Ikorodu a difficult place for criminals to live following major arrests of criminals and cult members.

The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Zubairu Muazu, in recognition of SARS effort assured Ikorodu residents of their safety following the arrest of  41 robbery suspects.

Further breakdown shows that 195 suspects were apprehended for cultism, four for kidnapping while 52 suspects were also arrested for.murder.

     During a media briefing, the Lagos police CP thumped up SARS team who facilitated the arrest of criminals with 328 bags of substance suspected to be  Indian hemp, including those dealing in fake dollars.

According to SARS, the local vigilante groups were also helpful in combating crime in Ikorodu. 

    In other offences, the police recorded six cases of suicide and prevented four suicide attempts by different suspects.

Rape and defilement of minors and teenage girls

   On violators of COVI-19 law and order, CP Zubairu Muazu said that the Police arrested not less than 33,374: out of which 2600 were apprehended for violating the government’s imposed curfew with 208 arrested for not wearing face mask while 90 was arrested for not maintaining social distancing with 477 suspects were arrested for interstate travel.

  Overall, the police recovered arms and ammunition with a total of 1,506 vehicles impounded which include 210 vehicles intercepted  for interstate travel while 156 tricycles were also impounded.

In a these successes, SARS has established itself as hydraheaded crime bursters Nigerians would rely upon.

According to CPS Johnson, SARS needs to be encouraged to serve the community more.

   “We are all loyal officers who have been sacrificing for the safety of the society and shall not relent in ridding our communities, states and Nigeria of dangerous criminals,” he said.
