Civil Society organisations on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition, (ACOMIN) and others working towards the prevention, treatment and mitigation of the impacts of malaria have called for the involvement of traditional institution to ensure wider reach to targeted audience across the state.

ACOMIN and sister Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working for effective promotion of immunization also blamed poor funding and half-hearted commitments by states and local government authorities as

major setbacks to ensuring malaria-free society.

At the quarterly meeting of ACOMIN, NGOs and Civil Society

Organisations (CSOs) which took place at Gidan Matasa, Minna, the

group also reviewed the distribution of treated mosquito nets,

insisting that the exercise was poorly managed in some parts of the state.

“Reports that some people got more than expected while some couldn’t

get even one, in some places, the targeted audience were simply not captured while many of the handlers kept bundles of unclaimed bundles of treated nets to themselves”.
