Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abunakar Sani Bello, has reassured people of the state of not breaking the ‘covenant’ of good governance and service delivery, he made to them.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mrs. Mary Noel Berje, the governor said that the covenant he made with citizens of the state was sacrosanct and the mandate given him would not be wasted.
On the first 100 days of his second coming, Bello stated though it was celebrated on a low-key, it had been eventful as most of the projects embarked upon within the period were ongoing, about to be completed or have been halted until the rains are over.
He explained that arrangements had been made with NIRSAL for the procurement of additional 100 tractors to develop the multi-million naira Bobi grazing reserve to boost milk and meat production, generate revenue and curb insecurity.
“The modest efforts made by my administration in the past few weeks had been both tangible and intangible especially in the areas of rural health care, education, water, agriculture, infrastructure development and security.”
Some of the achievements, he said, include a Primary Healthcare centre in Kataeregi, upgrading and reconstruction of Maito Primary Healthcare in Wushishi council, the Primary Healthcare centre in Chanchaga and the expansion of Paiko Hospital as well as in Paikoro council.
Others include the ongoing construction of the state ICT Hub in Minna, the construction of Zungeru township roads as well as the continuation of drainage construction and channelisation of waterways.
Bello also disclosed that the rehabilitation of Minna-Suleja road was ongoing, adding that the Minna-Bida road as well as other road projects including the Operation Zero Potholes would commence as soon as the rains recede.
He said that his government was putting up structures for the commencement or takeoff of the Teachers Professional Institute in Zone A and C while some few rural communities are being electrified.
The governor further stated that proactive measures had been taken, in collaboration with security agencies, that have curtailed criminal activities especially kidnapping and cattle rustling in the state, adding that victims of such incidents including fuel tanker explosion were being assisted by government.
