A National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Yobe State, Victoria Moyo Oloruntaiyese YB19B/0494, has constructed a five-directional sign post at strategic junctions across Potiskum town.
Addressing journalists at SOCOL junction after the commissioning, Oloruntaiyese, a graduate of Mathematics and Statistics from Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, said, “my reason for embarking on the project is to save lives of innocent strangers visiting Potiskum town and losing their bearings. Most of the travellers miss the road and fall in the hands of wicked people. When I came in newly I couldn’t speak Hausa and those I was asking questions couldn’t speak English, I found it difficult to move around as there was no directional sign post in the town”.
She thanked the Emir of Fika and Emirate Council, Potiskum for being too accommodating to strangers and Corps members deployed to the area.
She said, “Our Royal Father Emir of Fika and Chairman Council of Chiefs Yobe State, Dr. Muhammadu Ibn Abali Muhammad Idrissa, has been very helpful and supportive to NYSC scheme in the state.He usually donates bull for us or organizes a lunch with NYSC members at his palace.
“I wish to express my sincere appreciation and profound gratitude to Potiskum and Fika local government areas which supported me in seeing the light of the day”.
She further said, “I wish to first of all commend those who despite their crowded schedules found time to grace this occasion. “The commissioning of the directional life-saving post is an event celebrated at the right time by the right people and at the right place”.
Alhaji Bukar Abubakar, the Emir of Fika representative described Oloruntaiyese Victoria Moyo as very determined and desirous to offer something to Potiskum community.
“Her dream and desire for the community came through and today we are here to witness the commissioning of her projects. Oloruntaiyese is a multi-talented, promising and hard working Corp member”.
NYSC Coordinator in Yobe State, Mrs. Grace J.Adzer, recommend her for National, State and Local government awards. “The entire community will ever live to remember the legacy she left behind. I am assuring you that his name is already written with indelible ink by us”.
She encouraged her “to continue with this type of zeal wherever she goes, I will also appeal to other Corpers to emulate Oloruntaiyese Victoria”.
