Social media has been buzzing with different reactions after Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, President of LoveWorld Incorporated, also known as Christ Embassy, said in a sermon that women were not in God’s original plan.
“The reason God made the woman was because of man, he made the woman because of the man, that’s why he made the woman. So, woman was not his original idea”, he said.
He also said the husband is the master in a marriage, so the wife should learn to be obedient to her husband.
He advised wives to stop seeing their husband as the male partner in a marriage.
Nigerians on twitter have shown support for Pastor Chris’s message.
“Everything Pastor Chris said is backed up by the word of God (Bible). If truly y’all will listen and respect your husband instead of being a Feminist. Your home will last longer and we’ll have less broken marriages” @igie_nosakhare said.
“I love Pastor Chris, he teaches with bible references. ” Your Husband is your Master. ” Read: Eph 5:21-25. Feminist will come out to attack without biblical defence/reference. Watch out: Irrationally, will be their argument just like @StephanieOdili points raised”.
“Leave Pastor Chris alone, he is right . If you are getting married according to the Bible, a wife should be submissive to her husband and the husband is to guide her , love and cherish her. Carry your bitterness and go abeg.…” @SledgeAma said.
“Seeing how some people don’t agree with Pastor Chris message on marriage “because husband & wife are now one”. Look at the message like this: -You are one with Christ & Christ is your head, your Lord- Notice that that does not make you a slave. Get the bible right. Eph. 5:22-33”, said @olukunle88.
In 2016, Pastor Chris had a bitter divorce with his former wife, Anita whom he said got involved with the wrong people. A lot of people see his teachings on marriage as being directed towards his ex-wife. They say he is very bitter.
