A movie recently released on Netflix, ‘When They See Us,’ the story of five black kids wrongfully convicted in the United States for a rape in 1989, has spiraled into a twitter storm between former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, and the Church of Satan.
Linda Fairstein was the prosecutor who investigated the rape and oversaw the prosecution of the teenagers, now known as the Central Park Five. They were alleged to have raped a white female jogger. The five boys were convicted.
But in 2002, the convictions were vacated when a serial rapist and a murderer, Matias Reyes, confessed to having been the sole perpetrator of the crime. A DNA testing also showed he was the sole contributor of the DNA of the semen on the victim.
Fairstein however maintained that the wrongfully convicted teenage boys were guilty. This got Fani-Kayode angry. He reacted aggressively via his twitter handle @realFFK, calling Fairstein racist, witch and a member of the Church of Satan.
However, the Church of Satan quickly replied Fani-Kayode, disowning Fairstein via its verify twitter handle @ChuchofSatan. “She has nothing to do with us. Please leave us out of this,” it said.
But Fani-Kayode rebuked the Church of Satan in a prayer tone.“Get thee behind me Satan.”
