Insurance brokers seek abolition of operational bidding fees

-

The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has condemned payment of bidding fees as prerequisite for offering insurance broking services.

Mr Ayodapo Shoderu, President of NCRIB, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos that such charges were highly exploitative.

He said that some companies and government institutions were charging members before they could render services.

According to Shoderu, insurance brokers as professionals, provide services like lawyers, architects, and accountants.

” So they should not be also placed under such burden,” he said

He said that the council had ordered its members to stop paying such charges.

“The council management had already dissuaded members from paying such exploitative fees.

” The companies and government institutions should be craving to get our services and not the other way round.

“This council has high resourceful members that must be compensated optimally.

“The NCRIB-NIA Joint Technical Committee is working on the vexatious issue and it will soon be finally nipped in the bud,” he said.
