Chairman, board of Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Muhammed Mahmood who was abducted with his daughter and others on Monday have been released.
Mahmood’s aide, Hussain Danladi, confirmed his boss’s release on Tuesday.
Mahmood, his daughter and other persons were kidnapped on Monday along Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
Though Danladi said no ransom was paid for their release.
The driver of the vehicle was shot dead when gunmen shot at their vehicle.
Meanwhile, it emerged on Tuesday that the police in Kaduna have arrested a man, Abdur-Rahman Ahmadu, allegedly linked the abduction of Mahmood, and his daughter, Yesmin.
Spokesman of Kaduna police, Yakubu Sabo, said so in a statement on Tuesday evening.
The statement said: “IGP Mohammed Adamu Abubakar informed the general public that already one suspect has been arrested by the Police in connection with the incident and one AK47 Rifle with 29 rounds of ammunition was recovered in his possession.
“The suspect named Abdur-Rahman Ahmadu is undergoing interrogation in Police custody. Efforts are on course to apprehend the remaining fleeing suspects.”
