Robbers hit Akure, kill church bursar

Two suspected armed robbery groups hit Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

  In one of the attacks, the suspects shot dead the Bursar of the Akure diocese of the Anglican communion, Gabriel Kola Abiodun, at Alagbaka area of Akure on his way back from bank.

While in the other operation, the suspected armed robbers snatched large sum of money from the Pay Master of the Ministry of Agric (name withheld).

  Though details of the second robbery attack were still sketchy, eyewitness said that the attack occurred at the premises of the Ministry.

 The remains of Abiodun, who died while serving the church, had been evacuated and taken to the mortuary by some policemen.

   Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the area just as sympathisers throng the office.   Confirming the incident, the PPRO, Femi Joseph, assured that the perpetrators would be arrested.
