The APC led Federal Government of Nigeria has dragged the current Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen before the Code of Conduct Bureau Abuja over what it declared as sundry breaches of the code of conduct requirements for public officials, including non-declaration and false declaration of assets.
In a 6-page petition addressed to the Chairman, Code of Conduct Burreau, Federal Secretariat Abuja, the petitioner stated that particulars of findings indicate that Justice Onnoghen is the owner of sundry accounts primarily funded through cash deposits made by himself up to as recently as August 10, 2016, which run contrary and inconsistent with financial transparency and the code of conduct for public officials.
Meanwhile the Code of Conduct Bureau has issued notice of writ of summons to Chief Justice Onnoghen on the petition.
