*Raid has nothing to do with Atiku, says EECC

The Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) today raided houses belonging to former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
The EFCC has, however, debunked claims that the arrest was targeted at Atiku or his sons. Rather, it was targeted at Theodore Orji whom, it said, has been under investigation for money laundering activities.
“The recent arrest of Ogbonna Orji, son of Sen. Theodore Orji, over money laundering, has absolutely nothing to do with son of ex-VP Atiku Abubakar”, EFCC said on their Twitter page.

The anti-graft agency said it has been on the trail of cars allegedly bought by the sons of the former governor and that last Friday, the cars were traced to a nightclub in Abuja. This led to the arrest of Ogbonna Orji and his friend, Kelvin Ilonah.
“They were arrested at about 5 am on Saturday, and they led operatives to their three-flat apartment, where documents retrieved showed that it was rented at a rate of N13 million per annum,” the EFCC said.
It further said they have so far given useful information that is helping the agency in their investigation,
Last weekend, it was reported that accounts belonging to former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, his wife and family members were allegedly frozen by the EFCC.
Reasons for freezing Obi’s accounts were not yet known. Obi has been known as the cleanest governor in Nigeria having left office with impeccable record, analysts say.
The opposition party, PDP, in a statement said the move is a political witch-hunt aimed at stifling the opposition.
