Taxi Cap Licence: LASG ready to commence allocation

The Lagos State Government will commence the issuance of the provisional Taxi License Allocation Letter and badge to operators in the state with effect from Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.

A statement issued by Kayode Opeifa, Commissioner for Transport, on Tuesday, said “the provisional allocation letter will be issued only to taxi cab operators who had earlier accredited with the State Government through the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS) offices and captured on the data base of the Lagos State Public Transport Management System.”

 

 

The issuance of the allocation letter, he said, is in line with the agreement reached by the taxi cab operators in the State with Governor Babatunde Fashola during a stakeholder meeting held at the Blue Roof, LTV on Thursday, February 26, 2015.

“The provisional allocation letter will enable the taxi cab operators be fully integrated with the New Lagos Taxi System via the collection of the OK paper from the VIS following which a Permanent Taxi Cab License would be issued.

 

 

“It would further enable the State Government pursue the transformation in the public transport industry, enhance professionalism, ensures standard and safety of life of the people.

 

 

“With the commencement of the New Lagos Taxi System, only License holders will be able to operate taxi cab business in Lagos,” the statement further reiterated.
