.Asaba 2018 Champ tops agenda
The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has scheduled a board meeting expected to hold on July 9th 2018 in Asaba, Delta State.
According to a statement signed by AFN scribe Amechi Okawo the meeting is to consider among other things the participations of Team Nigeria at the forthcoming Africa Senior Athletics Championship tagged Asaba 2018 and the hosting of other competitions.
Its however noteworthy, that the meeting would be the second the federation will hold after its inaugural meeting on July 31, 2017.
Its also doubtful how many members would attend following poor relationship existing among them over what some considered as unsavory appointments the AFN boss Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau made and other sundry reasons.
The meeting if it holds, would attempt to deliberate on Nigeria’s performance at the last Commonwealth Games in Australia and matters arising with the aim of evaluating Nigeria’s chances if any, at the Asaba 2018 Africa championship.
Reports also have it that the AFN president intends to latch on the opportunity the meeting will offer to pacify aggrieved members who till now had distanced themselves from all federation’s activities.

Sources also confided that the meeting is being made possible by the Asaba 2018 local organising committee who wishes to have a hitch-free championship with everybody in AFN on same page.
