The social media war between Innoson Motors and GTBank took another twist on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
The Nigerian vehicle manufacturing company in retaliation for GTBank’s online war Wednesday has called it dubious.
The bank had, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, through paid bloggers and social media buffs, created a hashtag, #Innosonlied, to ridicule the company for claiming that the Supreme Court had awarded Innoson N14 billion.
But on Thursday, Innoson replied with their own hashtag, #DubiousGTBank, calling it all sorts of names for the way it had drawn excess charges from its account which generated the ongoing furore.
Innoson on Friday, May 7, 2018, said via their Twitter handle that the Supreme Court had awarded N14 billion against GTBank and later said the information was a slight distortion of facts.
Innoson has since apologised.
In the apology, Innoson said that the caption was a slight distortion of the information.
“When the information came to our notice, we had to correct the error made by the staff of the agency managing our accounts. We apologize for the misleading information,” Innoson said via its Twitter handle.
This sent GTbank customers into a frenzy and caused a panic withdrawals. This prompted the bank to issue a release calling Innoson’s claim ‘mischievous and malicious’.
The two companies had been at loggerheads since Innoson alleged that GTBank overcharged its account with the bank.
