Senate summons IGP over Benue killings

-

The Senate has summoned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to explain the steps taken to prevent further killings in Benue State.

Earlier, the Senate President read a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari, explaining the steps taken after the January killings in the State.

However, a federal lawmaker, Senator Joshua Lidani, from Gombe state raised a point of order calling the attention of the Senate to the continuous killing in Benue State despite the 14 days ultimatum given to the IG of Police.

The Senate Committees on Police and National Intelligence were mandated to invite the IG and report back next week Tuesday.
