#Not Too Young To Run Campaign Bill Youth Group in Yobe State has threatened to boycott forthcoming 2019 general elections across the country if not involved in governance of Nigeria.

The Coordinator Exit Lanes and Organizer #Not Too Young To Run Campaign Bill,  Yobe State Chapter, Ahmed Haruna Daya, disclosed this to newsmen after peaceful demonstration in Potiskum town of Yobe State.

According to him, non-participation of youths in governance has posed a great threat to the hopes and aspirations of Nigerian youths.

He said that the peaceful demonstration was ongoing across the country which was aimed at ensuring all inclusive governance.

“Let me say it that if this bill is not passed,  by 2019 no youth will participate in politics.

“We embarked on this campaign to ensure that the National Assembly will pass ‘Not too young to run’ campaign to enable the youth to have a chance to participate in politics and governance. Excluding the youths to be part of the politics is just like exhibiting anti -democracy government. If we could recall the past,  those who agitated for Independence in Nigeria were youths between the ages of 30 and and 40. ”

He further said, “People like Yakubu Gowon, Murtala Mohammed and  Muhammadu Buhari ruled this country at their  younger age.”

The group appealed to the National Assembly to “urgently pass the bill in such a way that youths can have a room in decision making in Nigeria.”

The youth leader also said that “the elderly have failed this country; they only invite us when they have Youth Empowerment Programmes and we are tired of it.  We want to be at the centre for decision making.  We know our problems and they too. During their time they were given the opportunity to be part of the government, why are they not giving us the chance to do so.

“We are ready to teach and render our service to our great country, Nigeria so that together we will continue to build this nation. ”

He advised the youths to shun all immoral behaviors and exhibit high sense of decency in their dealings.

The angry youths paraded the major streets of Potiskum town and took their protest to the Local Government Secretariat.
