We are consulting on Nigeria condition—The Patriot

A group of eminent Nigerians under the aegis of The Patriots, on Thursday, July 20, 2017, said that it was consulting on the best solution to salvaging the country from its present worrisome situation.

Also the group said that it has put in motion efforts to build national consensus through further consultations with other eminent Nigerians from all over the country.

Constitutional lawyer, Prof Ben Nwabueze; Afenifere Chietain, Chief Ayo Adebanjo; Chief Solomon Asemota, Dapo Sarunmi, Senator Ike Nwachukwu, Ndubuisi Kanu, Olawale Okuniyi among others were present at the meeting.

Although no communique was issued after their meeting in Lagos today, Thursday, the group said that disenchantment, grievances and different opinions among Nigerians are being taken for further debate  to establish genuine solution that would fix the country.

The Patriot acknowledged that the current wave of protests and agitations by different groups in the country was a pointer that fundamental issues must be addressed.

Briefing newsmen after their meeting, secretary of The Patriot, Okuniyi, said that there was no communique as the group was still consulting with other eminent Nigerians to find lasting solution to the nation’s problem.

His words: “There is so much acrimony heating up the polity but The Patriot is making all efforts to reach out so as to douse the tension in the land. We are extending consultations to other eminent groups in the land and very soon there will be a project Nigeria movement.

“The Nigeria Consensus Group will soon emerge. The truth is that grievances are being put on the table and these are being taken for further debate. We are discussing all issues: restructuring, IPOB, Quit notice to Ndigbo in the North, constitution amendment etc, everything and we are sure something positive will come out of it for Nigerians”.
