The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Jummai Alhassan, on Monday 17, 2017, visited Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the party’s headquarter, Abuja.
Though details of her visit remain sketchy, it was beleived to be part of the ongoing political realignment since the resolution of PDP crisis at the Supreme Court.
But sources said that Mrs. Alhassan during the visit urged the party leaders to join hands with women ahead of 2019 general elections.
Responding, PDP chairman asked women to be ready to pay for nomination forms instead of waiting to be asked to pick them free by political parties. According to him , such would enhance their participation, and also earn them respect in politics.
Makarfi said that the PDP would support the enactment of a law in support of the gender parity in politics and participation in governance.
