The Independent National Electoral Commission in Kano State has fixed July 30 for the conduct of Minjibir State Assembly bye-election.
Alhaji Abdullahi Kaugama, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in charge of Kaduna State, made the disclosure on Friday.
Kaugama was redeployed from Kaduna to conduct the bye-election.
According to him, the election is being conducted as a result of the cancellation of the by-election earlier conducted on April 30.
He said that the election would be conducted in 11 registration areas, 126 polling units and 32 voting points across the local government area.
βWe have recruited no fewer than 657 adhoc staff to conduct the election. We have also concluded all the necessary arrangements for the electionβ, he said.
Kaugama said that Kano state Police command had assured the commission of its readiness to provide adequate security personnel during the election.
βThe intervention of various conflict resolution groups with capacity to mobilize the required consensus for violence free poll was engaged by our commission.
βWe had series of meetings with all the relevant stakeholders with a view to ensuring success of the exercise,β Kaugama added.
The by-election conducted earlier was cancelled as a result of violence that marred the exercise.
