-

A bill to include young people from 35 years to vie for elective positions like governorship and the presidency, sponsored by Hon. Igbokwe, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, represents Ahiazu /Ezinihitte -Mbaise Federal Constituency, Imo State.

In a statement by his Senior Legislative Aide/Media Adviser, Tony Inyama, the lawmaker explained the bill was to alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, to enhance political inclusion and participation of young people in governance in Nigeria.

He pointed out that the bill would amend Section 147 of the 1999 constitution by adding a new sub section.

Igbokwe is Africa’s sole representative on the Board of World’s Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU).
