“I am happy to listen to your complaint, I will not only present the request to President Goodluck Jonathan but I will ask him to make out time to have a meeting,” he told some of the aggrieved members who visited him at the PDP secretariat in Abuja.

Former Ebonyi State Governor, Sam Egwu, who led the group, thanked Mu’azu for his intervention to restore peace in the state party.

“We have suffered rejection and dejection which come in respect of the abused guideline. The party at the state level has decided to handpick certain individuals at the state level, selling nomination forms to people in the line of Governor Martin Elechi,” Egwu complained

He said the situation has deteriorated, with PDP state and federal lawmakers defecting to other parties.

Egwu lamented that party guidelines have been subverted such that Elechi appointed someone to replace the state party chairman, rather than allowing the deputy chairman to take over.

“What we witness in the state is without due process. The last congress of the party was successful the result of that congress has been published. We ask that the remaining primary will be done in accordance to the rules,” he pleaded.

He invited the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to take control of the Ebonyi State chapter to prevent Elechi from controlling it.

He also requested the police to deploy more officers to the state to protect political office aspirants against hired assassins in the run up to the election next year.

Others on the entourage included Senator Ofia Nwali, state House of Assembly Speaker, Chukwuma Nwasukwu; acting state PDP Chairman, Onwe Joseph Onwe.

Mu’azu directed PDP National Organising Secretary, Abubakar Mustapha, to investigate the complaints and present a report in two days.
