Friends and associates of Ekpotu, a Petro-Chemical Engineer, who served as a Commissioner of Information, Culture and Ethical Orientation in Akwa Ibom state in the administration of Obong Victor Attah, were at the Wadata House Headquarters of the PDP in their numbers to obtain the form on his behalf on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.

According to one of the leaders of the Ekpotu 2015 Movement with a captivating theme – “Let’s Turn the Page”, Otuekong Idongesit Udokpo, the former deputy governor who served meritoriously between 2007 and 2011, during the first tenure of Governor Godswill Akpabio, “is coming into the race with an enviable wealth of experience. He also served as a Federal Commissioner (South South) National Assembly Service Commission, Abuja. Don’t forget that both Engineer Ekpotu and the current governor of Akwa Ibom state, were colleagues as commissioners under Obong Attah, before he became Akpabio’s deputy”.

He added that having an experienced administrator who understands the dynamics of governance, especially the unique architecture of a fast developing state such as Akwa Ibom, with its complexities, will be a blessing to indigenes of the state who yearn for credible and people – oriented governance.

Ekpotu, author of many books including “Lifting the Peril: A Root-Cause Resolution of the Niger Delta crisis”, is known as a great administrator and also a cerebral intellectual, who appeals across board and thus mobilises the grassroots with the power of intellect, decorum, reason and fairness to all.

He is also the promoter of two non-governmental organisations, “The Voice for Enduring Covenant on Global Peace (VOICECON) and the Civil Rules Advancement Works Organisation of Nigeria, (CROWN), under which platforms he advocates socio-cultural and political change in the Nigerian society.

Feelers from State suggest that this is the candidate after the heart of majority of the people following speculations that have been on going and the meticulous discharge of responsibilities in all his previous duty calls.
