40-year-old man, two children, others killed in Bauchi auto crash

Six people were kiked while six others sustained injuries in an auto crash that occurred at Buzayi village along Bauchi-Jos road on Wednesday night.

Among the deceased was a father and two of his children aged two and eight.

An eye witness told The Niche that the accident involved a tipper lorry and a Vetra bus. He said the Vetra was returning to Makera in Bauchi Metropolis after a condolence visit to Nabordo town in Toro Local Government Area of the state with family members and friends when it was hit by the Jos-bound tipper.

“The tipper driver was driving without head light. The driver lost control and ran into the vetra bus and as soon as the tipper driver hit the vetra, he immediately jumped out and ran away,” he said.

According to him, it took several hours to remove the mangled bodies of the victims from the damaged Vetra.

Those who died include Umar Ladan 40, and his two children, Hauwa Umar (8) and Rilwanu Ladan (2). Others are Nuhu Ibrahim, 38, Auta

Shehu, 25, and Hafsat Amin, 3.

The deceased have all been buried according to Islamic rites.

Speaking during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased at Makera, Bauchi, the Bauchi State Head of Service, Alhaji Liman Bello, who represented Governor Mohammed Abubakar, sympathised with the family over the demise of their sons and daughters.

He prayed for the repose of their souls and the families the fortitude to bear the loss.
