President of the FIBA Africa Zone 3, Sam Ahmedu, has predicted tough matches at the forthcoming 3×3 Tour championship.
The championship, powered by the AMK Foundation, is billed to take place in Lagos from June 18 to 21.
Hostilities during the Tour would be held in the Under-18 (boys and girls); senior men and women as well as in the mixed team category.
He said: “With the confirmation of participation from all the national federations under the zone, I have no doubt in my mind that we will be witnessing best of basketball matches during the 3×3 Tour.
“The matches would be tough, entertaining, thrilling and explosive.
“Some of the players that would be taking part in the Tour are some of the best from the national federations, which tends to make the Tour a challenging one.
“From the organisers, all hands have been put on deck for a successful hosting and organisation of the Tour, from accommodation, feeding, transportation to logistics as well as security.”
A breakdown of the confirmation of entries shows that Togo, Benin Republic, Nigeria, Ghana, Niger Republic as well as Cote d’Ivoire would all be fielding players in all the categories during the Tour.
Each category will comprise four players and one coach.
Issues of wild cards for the championship are determined by the organising committee.
