EXCLUSIVE: How I survived breast, cervical cancer – Ibinabo Fiberesima

-

Nollywood star actress Ibinabo Fiberesima is facing manslaughter conviction for which a Lagos High Court sentenced her to five years in jail and the Appeal Court endorsed the sentence last eeek.

But Ibinabo, President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) was spotted having lots of fun at the AMVCA after-party. However, she has indeed gone through some tough moments during the past few months.

In a recent chat with Goldenpearlmedia, the AGN President shared the awful times she went through and how she survived breast and cervical cancer. Excerpts:

She said: “I had a lump in my breast and I had surgery to remove it. It was still on a low level before I discovered it. After the surgery, I was going through emotional problems. Then I discovered a growth in my cervix during a cervical smear. It was also removed.

“They have all gone now. I want to use this opportunity to reach out to people, to always go for test and scans.

“AGN is starting a programme for its members in every state. From there, we go round to other people. We will do smear test, breast screening and prostrate screening for men.

“We also have plans for eye-test and provision of glasses to those who need it. For those that can’t afford the recommended glasses, my NGO will pay for them.”

She also talked about the court case that she is presently battling and how she feels about the whole trauma.

“Yes, the case is still in court. Whatever is happening doesn’t need to be made public or make so much noise about. Right now, it’s a bit too much and hurts so bad,” she said in an emotion-laden voice.
