Sunday Oliseh has said from his base in Belgium that he quit as chief coach of Nigeria’s national team, Super Eagles in the interest of the country.
After announcing his resignation on Twitter in the wee hours of Friday, the former Ajax midfielder has turned in his resignation letter, which was addressed to the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Mohammed Sanusi, and dated February 25, 2016.
“Your contractual violations and the interest of the nation necessitate that I tender my resignation and recourse to the termination of our working agreement,” the resignation letter read in part.
A rented apartment in Abuja promised him and his two assistants after he was appointed by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in July 2015 is yet to be provided.
He is owed four months’ salary, while his assistants are also being owed for several more months.
He further accused NFF of not giving him enough support to prepare the team for next month’s all-important AFCON qualifiers against seven-time champions and qualifying group leaders, Egypt.
He said he received “so little help” from the NFF and has been soldering on under “unconducive working conditions”.
