Bashir Ahmad is Buhari’s PA on New Media

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Mr. Bashir Ahmad as his personal assistant on new media.

Until his appointment, Ahmad was the assistant editor, online for LEADERSHIP.ng. His appointment takes effect from January 22, 2016 and is expected to terminate at the end of the administration.

The appointment, which was signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir David Lawal, noted that Ahmad had distinguished himself as a social media savvy personality.

Ahmad subsequently confirmed his appointment via tweeter messages to his followers at his Twitter handle @BashirAhmaad.

“I am pleased to announce that I have been appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari @MBuhari as his Personal Assistant on New Media.”

Ahmad who was born June 10, 1991 in Gaya local government area of Kano State has a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano.

The new appointee is a multimedia journalist, who has distinguished himself as social media savvy.

Ahmad, though still very young, has a robust work experience prior to this appointment.

He was on-line editor/sportswriter with Rariya Newspaper, special correspondent for Murya Arewa (Arewa Voice) magazine, among other media platforms.

He was also the political strategist for Sam4Nigeria Presidential Campaign Organization between January and December 2014.

He also served as social media strategist and member, Digital Media sub-committee of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APCPCO) between December and May 2015.

He created and managed the APC Facebook page and the Muhammadu Buhari Facebook page. He was in charge of posting President Buhari’s activities on facebook and twitter, during and after the 2015 elections.
