National Eye Centre: Uninstalled equipment is embarrassing neglect – Minister

Minister of state for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire has expressed displeasure over the multi-million naira equipment left uninstalled, idle and unutilised at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna.

The minister who was on a working visit to the centre, inspected the central store where the equipment were kept, describing the neglect of the equipment as a serious embarrassment, and blamed it on error in the supply chain and non-arrangement of installation in the supply business.

Dr Ehanire who registered his displeasure, said the equipment were very important and much needed equipment for healthcare delivery to the populace.

He promised to expedite action to ensure the installation and use of the equipment.

According to him, “We have seen so many expensive equipment which have been lying down unutilized for several years now. They are very important and much-needed equipment which, due to some error in supply chain, were brought here but not installed because the arrangement for their installation and maintenance was not included in the whole supply business. This is very serious and a serious embarrassment.”
