Another batch of 301 Nigerians stranded in Ukraine arrived at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on Saturday. The evacuees were said to have arrived from Budapest, Hungary at 8:50 pm via Azman Air.
A post by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) on its official twitter handle reads: “The evacuation Flight AZM2351 @AzmanAir Nigerians from Budapest, Hungary arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Airport today, Saturday, 12th March 2022 at 8:50 PM local time, the majority of which are the #SumyStudents from Ukraine.
“Returnees are getting $100 transport fare from the Federal Government of Nigeria, free SIM cards loaded with 5,000 Naira airtime to allow them to reach their family members courtesy of a partnership between NiDCOM and Mtn, and other relief packages.”

NiDCOM had earlier on Saturday announced that 300 evacuees would be arriving in the country at about 5:30 pm but the returnees eventually arrived by 8:50 pm. Reasons for the delay were not stated by the commission.
The earlier post read: “Azman Air boarding another 300 Evacuees mostly students from Sumy #SumyStudents at Liszt Ferenc Airport Budapest, Hungary today 12/3/22, expected to arrive home at about 5:30 pm local time.”
