Despite defeats to Brazil and Spain in two of their Group C encounters, the Super Falcons can still qualify for the knockout stages of the football event at the ongoing Olympics Games in Paris, France.
In their first fixture against South American side, Brazil, Falcons narrowly lost 1-0 with veteran Marta grabbing the only goal of the game.
World champions, Spain also edged past the Nigerian team in their second Group C encounter on Sunday after scoring an 85th minute goal through Alexia Putellas.

The Nigerian girls had put up a brilliant defensive display until a mistake from the goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie allowed the La Roja to clinch the winner with a direct free kick goal.
With their second straight defeat, Randy Waldrum’s ladies are now rooted to the bottom of Group C with zero points.
However, they still stand a chance of qualifying for the next stage of the football event as one of the best losers, if they are able to beat Japan handsomely in their final group game.
