The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed the APC’s Presidential Campaign Council’s former Director of the Civil Society Directorate, Naja’atu Mohammed, as one of the coordinators who will supervise the conduct of police officers during the 2023 general elections.

Also appointed were 44 others to examine the actions of police personnel across the federation during the polls.

Naja’atu was removed from her role in January, according to the APC, due to incompetence and for leaking vital information. She, however, claimed she resigned and heavily criticised the APC’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

In a statement, however, the PSC spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, noted that Naja’atu and other coordinators would be led by the acting chairman of the commission and a retired justice of the Supreme Court, Clara Ogunbiyi.

“The Commission warns that it will sanction any police officer involved in any form of misconduct before, during or immediately after the elections as it is determined to ensure that Policemen on election duties must conduct themselves within the approved rules and regulations.
